Filed under: Post Processing — ghorse@3:58 PM

My appology for not able to make the screenshots in English

1. Load your photo.

2. Duplicate the background layer to a new layer.

3. Convert this new layer to smart object before we start applying filter to it. The smart object conversion give us an option to change the filter parameter in a later time.

4. Apply a Gaussian Blur filter to the layer.

5. Adjust the radius to achieve the blurring effect best suite your taste. Use the preview checkbox to see the before and after difference.

6. You could double click on the Gaussian Filter to change the parameter later.

7. Open the layer mask.

There is an new white box visible on the layer dialog.

White color on the mask means the layer is visible while black color means the layer is transparent and can see thru to the lower layer.
8. Click on this layer mask. We need to paint on the lotus on this blurred layer to unreveil the clear lotus from the lower layer.
9. Choose the drawing tools.

Make sure the foreground color is black

Choose this kind of softbrush

10. Half finished

You could see the mask is showing the painted areas in black.

11. Completed Photo
