2008年12月17日 D700的12和14 bit RAW档的区别
14 bit RAW档是尼康在D3和D300推出时增加的新功能,在D700上也俱备这个功能。14 BIT的RAW档是否比12 BIT的好呢?让我来试试看。我用D700拍摄下面这个渐变灰度图案:

拍摄的曝光是在 1/2秒 F8,这是相当于低了三级曝光。这刻意安排令后制时需增加三级曝光来补尝,这样较易看到14BIT和12BIT的分别。
后期制作是用ADOBE CAMERA RAW来完成,ADOBE CAMERA RAW除了曝光调整在+3外,其它设定不变。
下列是12BIT(左边)和14BIT(右边)在100%观看下的比较:

结果清楚显示14BIT档较为优胜,但这只是在特定的情况下,一般情况较难察觉分别。下列是另一个比较,同样是在ACR上做了增加三级曝光:

你能看出那一个是14BIT档吗?

Thanks for the comparison. I recently purchased a new d700 and am trying to decide if I want to sacrifice precious memory space to shoot in 14bit, or if the 12bit will suffice. I think for all intents and purposes the 12bit will be enough, though perhaps if there’s a shot I know will be heavily processed later on, then I can switch to 14bit for the moment.

Hi Tom, I would agree for most intent and purposes, the 12 bits raw file is enough. It is just the 14 bits file leave a bit more possibilities. I don’t quite agree that memory space is important is a 4G card could easily hold more than 200 files in 14bit lossless compressed raw format. When shooting, I feel there is too much to keep up with already and really don’t want to be burden with thinking about if 12 or 14 bit is needed.
